A book, launched
After submitting many, many drafts as word documents, it is a indescribably beautiful thing to hold my book in my hands. How to Stay Sane in a House Share hit the shelves last week and is out in book shops! Now! And quite rightly, has found its way to the ‘From Hot Mess to Success’ book table in Waterstones…
I hosted a launch party last week at The Roebuck in Southwark, the pub I’d frequent most weekends when I was living in my very first house share in Elephant and Castle and I still have a few goodie bags left over.
If you’d like one of the eight I have left and would like to buy a copy of How to Stay Sane in a House Share, please send me a screen shot of your purchase and your postal address and I’ll post the bundle (worth about £50) out to you: a tote bag, a shiny red Falcon tin, a St Eval bay and rosemary candle, a set of three Cambridge Imprint document wallets, a trusty IKEA bag and a Who Gives a Crap loo roll.
Ahead of the party, I’d gone back through the archives and dug out all my old house share photographs to make a slideshow that played all evening. I loved stitching all the photographs and memories together so once I’ve gained permission from all my old housemates (and honorary housemates), I’ll post them here.
One of the best things about writing How to Stay Sane in a House Share has been connecting with others who are living similar lives. Hearing the stories of connections they’ve made in house shares, and the ways they’ve found solace in their co-living set ups has taught me so much. So I’m incredibly excited to be doing a few live events in the coming weeks where I’ll be chatting about all I’ve learned along the way and asking other people to talk about their journey through house sharing too. Please come and join me!
